“I’m feeling a little under the weather.” “I can’t afford that.” “That hurt my feelings.”
I’m sick of saying these things! How about you? It can be so disappointing to have difficulty and deterioration as our default order of operation. The problem is that we can’t just fix these issues in this life. There’s always going to be sickness, poverty, and hatred on this Earth.
These problems go back all the way to the first humans, Adam and Eve. From their first sin in the garden of Eden, all of humanity thereafter was born with a sin nature. Along with that sin nature was an Earth that suffered the effects of sin, as death and decay characterized the world.
If it wasn’t for God’s goodness and the future for believers He has told us about in Revelation 21–22, we would have nothing more to look forward to than these problems we have now. But for eternity God has had a plan for a restored environment for those who love Him, as He said in Isaiah 65:17, ““For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.” Just think about how God will restore our lives and our surroundings to a perfect, eternal state.
Here’s some things we won’t even have to think about anymore when we get to heaven.
Revelation 21:4 says, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
“I’m just feeling down today.”
Never again! There’s always something making us sad in our daily lives. Maybe you’re stressed by your job, schoolwork, housework, appointments, financial status, or relationships with friends or family. Maybe you’re dealing with anxiety or depression. Maybe you’ve experienced a traumatic event, such as divorce, job loss, poor health diagnosis, or death of a loved one. Maybe you’ve just had it up to here with washing the dishes and doing laundry! It’s a great joy to remember that these sorrows are temporary. What is there to feel sad about in a perfect heaven? Revelation 21:4 says, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” I can’t wait until the pains of this life are no more.
“I’m hungry” or “I’m thirsty.”
Impossible! Without frail, imperfect physical bodies, we won’t need food or drink to sustain us (yes, that includes coffee; sorry!). Before you start to worry about missing some favorite foods, remember that true satisfaction is waiting in heaven independent of anything else, including food. Instead of our bodies being slowly deteriorating machines, our heavenly bodies are fully functioning in the way they should be all the time. Revelation 7:16 says, “They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore,” referring to saints from the Tribulation, but the principle reasonably applies to all who enjoy heaven with God.
“I can’t get this thing to work.”
Don’t worry! In heaven, everything functions as it should. This is the beauty of God’s perfect design. His plan was for all creation to operate as He intended it to, but the curse of sin threw things out of whack. God’s restoration extends to all aspects of heaven, as He says in Revelation 21:5, “Behold, I make all things new.” So whether a lagging phone, glitching computer, or fussy car is frustrating you, you can look forward to the relief of having an environment in which everything works effectively once again.
“Lock the door.”
No need! It’s such a normal part of our daily routines to be locking things and worrying about our safety. We lock the doors to our car and home every day. But we’ll never have to fear for our safety or worry about security when we are in heaven far from the threat of sin. Paul talks about the security of heaven in 2 Timothy 4:18, saying, “The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom.” To preserve implies safety both in going to His kingdom and living in heaven, so Paul’s safety in heaven is a great hope for all of us.
“I don’t have time for that.” — You will! In eternity, you’ll never have to worry about running out of time. Imagine the endless possibilities of living in perfection without time constraints! No more deadlines, no more missed opportunities, and no more regret over wasted time are truly encouraging thoughts. Revelation 22:3 and 5 give us assurance of this hope, as John wrote, “The throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in [heaven], and His servants shall serve Him… And they shall reign forever and ever.”
The list extends on. Think about the implications of never saying these phrases again:
“Hope you have a great day!” — Every moment is a guarantee of perfection.
“I forgot to call the doctor again!” — We weren’t designed to die; in heaven you’ll never need treatment again!
“Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed.” — You won’t deal with senseless anger anymore.
“I’m allergic to that.” — Not with an uncompromised body, you won’t be!
“What day is it?” — There is no morning and evening or stress of scheduling in heaven.
“Turn on the light.” — In heaven, there is no night, and the Lord gives light.
“How can I reach you?” — You won’t have to miss anyone or struggle to arrange plans.
“I’m so tired.” — You can rest in your Savior and not feel the wear and tear that you feel in your earthly body.
I’m so excited for a home that doesn’t include these things! A life spent with our Savior and none of the sin that plagues our world is truly a dream that will come true when we spend eternity with Him.
The reason for all this perfection? Simple: Revelation 22:3 says, “There shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it.” Replacing a world of sin with a world of our faultless God will usher in the reality of heaven our souls yearn for.

This is a good time for me to be reminded of these things. My mother will soon be in heaven . She is about to be 96 yrs old & life has become so difficult for her. Thanks for reminding me of how much better life will be .
